COVID-19 Guidelines: Patient & Staff Protocols
A Letter From Dr. Yadav
To our family of patients,
We have always complied with strict OSHA-mandated protocols to maintain a highly sterile environment within our dental office. The safety of our patients and staff is our highest priority. We are fully committed to minimizing the risk that is associated with this novel virus.
Effective immediately, the following additional safety protocols below are implemented at My Favorite Dentist.
The next time you come into our dental office, you may notice some of these additional safety protocols. For example:
Staff Temperature Check
Temperatures of all staff members are checked daily before every shift.
Staff PPE & Infection Control
Surgical caps, face shields, gowns, gloves, safety googles, and N95 masks (FDA and NIOSH Certified) along with Level 3 masks are required PPE for all staff members. Treatment rooms and clinical contact surfaces are thoroughly disinfected with Cavicide wipes and spray following each patient including all clinical equipment (headlamps, keyboards, face shields, loupes, etc.). All instruments after procedures are ran through an ultrasonic cleaner and steam sterilized.
Since this was the primary area of concern when it comes to dental safety regarding the coronavirus, we wanted to implement the best technology available. We have installed units to reduce the aerosols that are created by our air-driven handpieces and ultrasonic cavitron (used for our cleanings). By using Carbon, HEPA, UV-C, and plasma sterilization within these machines, we hope to minimize the freely floating viral particles. This is supplemented with secondary HEPA air filters in each room to filter out any remaining particles that could be present in our office air.
Patients are screened for COVID-19 risk factors when scheduling and upon arrival. Patients are asked to reschedule if risk factors are present. Patients are required to fill out a COVID questionnaire before they are taken back. Patients are asked to wear a mask before entering the dental office and use hand sanitizer upon entering the treatment room.
We ask patients that are being seen to rinse with Iorinse for 30 secs prior to the procedure. This reduces the viral load while we perform our procedures. If you have an Iodine allergy, please let our staff know prior to your appointment time.
To facilitate social distancing only 1 person is allowed in the communal areas such as the waiting room. If you are coming with family members, we do ask that they wait in the car or you be dropped off to the appointment. Schedules are being staggered to give staff enough time to disinfect all high usage areas. We ask for your patience while we get used to this new norm.
Patients will be asked to leave the treatment room wearing their masks. Only 1 person can be checked out at a time. Our payment terminals are set up with Apple Pay for contactless transactions but, for patients who are unable to use Apple Pay, we are disinfecting our payment terminals after every use. For those patients using checks, we encourage pre-writing checks at home to facilitate a quick checkout.
